What will happen at the health check?

At most surgeries, a nurse carries out the health check, but at some surgeries it may be a different healthcare practitioner. In some cases you may see a GP during the process. Either way, there will be the same checks, and the same type of questions.

Nurse talking to patientAt the beginning of the check, the nurse or healthcare practitioner will explain in full what is going to happen. He or she will ask you some general questions about your health, and then check your weight, blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar.

You will be asked about your lifestyle - for example, how active you are and what your diet is like - and about other things that may affect your health. There will also be a chance for you to ask questions about any health-related problems or worries you have.

At the end of the check, the nurse or healthcare practitioner will tell you about the results, and about any support or treatments that could benefit you.
